Dreaming of my classroom

One of the things I loved most about my job as a Reading Specialist was that I was a part of a team of kick-ass women. I loved the other reading teachers- they have become more like sisters than colleagues. We all had a work hard, play hard attitude, so I truly enjoyed my summers for ten years. We made a date before school started and blew into school, setting our room up in hours, not days.

Now that I have a classroom of my own to design and decorate, I find myself waking up in the middle of the night trying to decide where to put my word wall, or which color backing paper will look best. I’ve spent hours reorganizing my library and setting up new book baskets. My good friend Alli and I had a fun night at Ikea picking up some extras for our rooms, and I printed and laminated tons of color coordinated decorations. Now I’m on vacation on the Gulf for a month, but I find myself constantly trolling pintrest for new ideas.

What about you? Do you find yourself planning and redecorating your room in your mind before you can get in to school? How do you like to get ready for a new year?

Thanks for finding me! This is going to be an exciting year for me as I return to a full time classroom position. I am so excited to connect with all of the amazing teachers out there, and to get ideas to make this year fantastic.
